Interviewing Kolby Clunas

A little background of the author!

Kolby Clunas is a singer-songwriter from the Canadian Prairies, who is now dipping her toes into the poetry world. Her nature inspired poetry is the dull edge of her sharp, teeth grinding topics that lay between the lines.

Here are the questions!

Claudia: What’s your story? How did you get where you are today?

K. Clunas“I’ve been writing poems since I was a child, they all turned into songs, the words become hidden behind melodies, but as I grew older the poems got longer, and I had a need to express myself in a way that is no longer hidden.”

Claudia: What do you consider your achievements? If any!

K. Clunas: I wrote my first poetry book and am currently having a small batch of 20 printed. It’s called “Oyster”.”

Claudia: What are the best qualities of your writing/art style?

K. Clunas: “It’s all nature inspired, memory inspired, and brutally honest.”

Claudia: How has your writing/art affected yourself and/or others?

K. Clunas: “It’s a decompression activity for me, after a long day to write it all out is my favourite thing to do. My friends and family who read it relate to it, and it starts conversations between myself and them that may not of happened, or would have taken longer too.”

Claudia: Have there been any drawbacks in your art/writing journey? How has that affected you?

K. Clunas: “I’ve been very nervous to share my poems with the public, I’ve been feeling very out of my comfort zone.”

Claudia: What are your aspirations for future publication and/or plans, if any!

K. Clunas: “I’m hoping to create another poetry book in 2026 if “Oyster” does well.”

Sorry! Zine thanks Kolby Clunas so much for the time to talk to us about such a wonderful writing journey. We are so honoured to have you here!
