Interviewing Sabrina Ibrahim

A little background of the author!

I’m a writer first and foremost. I’m editor in chief of the sunshine chronicles and I’m also a comedy writer. I love love love to write scripts and my dream job is to write.

Here are the questions!

Claudia: What’s your story? How did you get where you are today?

S. Ibrahim“I’ve always had a passion for comedy and writing I wouldn’t be anywhere without it. Moreover I’ve always struggled with my mental health, I’ve been hospitalized twice for it and the only thing that could make me feel sane and everything wasn’t changed or unbalanced was comedy and writing. Like when I was sent to the adult one I would journal everyday, I wrote a whole manifesto on the reason I’m hypersexual because of my trauma regarding sex. But I would also do nightly stand up comedy during group therapy and at night and make everyone happy and just forget where we were for a moment. Comedy and writing were always my way out , it’s like I close my eyes and I’m gone everything horrible is gone.”

Claudia: What do you consider your achievements? If any!

S. Ibrahim: “I was nahs (national art honor society) in high school, when I was in rotc I won the award best new cadet, and my English teacher spoke very highly of my writing.”

Claudia: What are the best qualities of your writing/art style?

S. Ibrahim: “I’m always truthful about my experience and I truly go deep into the messiness of my life. I speak in prose a lot LIKE ALOT my writing and strange metaphors and references to everything in media and everything in my life work there way in my writing.

Claudia: How has your writing/art affected yourself and/or others?

S. Ibrahim: “My parents hate it they think I have “no shame” and talk to much about my personal life but they don’t understand it’s how I deal with what’s going on with me personally.”

Claudia: Have there been any drawbacks in your art/writing journey? How has that affected you?

S. Ibrahim: It’s been really hard for me to get published hence why I started my own zine. And my clarity can sometimes be difficult for others to understand:/

Claudia: What are your aspirations for future publication and/or plans, if any!

S. Ibrahim: I want to be able to write a book like the movie honey boy and that’s all I’m going to say.”
