Claudia: What’s your story? How did you get where you are today?
Debadrita Sarkar: “I have started writing when I was twelve years old. I have started by writing three short poems in Bengali, my mother tongue. But it was only at thirteen, I started writing more passionately . I had written a detective novella, which was loved by one of my mother’s colleague. After that I also won an editor’s choice award in an International writing competition for my poem, written in Bengali. Though I have started my literary career with an amount of success, later I have got many rejections from many magazines while publishing.”
Claudia: What do you consider your achievements? If any!
Debadrita Sarkar: “When my short story ” The Brightest Moon ” was published in The Statesman previous year, my parents became very proud of me. I consider that as my first achievement.
For the next, I was so much proud of myself when I got a 5star feedback on my book and 16 files sold in different countries of my book ” Nature And Life ” in Google play Store.”
Claudia: What are the best qualities of your writing/art style?
Debadrita Sarkar: “I want to keep my writings always simple but still, a deep meaning inside of every words. The best quality of my writings are that they can delve any reader into a journey of their own lives.”
Claudia: How has your writing/art affected yourself and/or others?
Debadrita Sarkar: “My short story ” The Brightest Moon ” affected my tuition Maths teacher for the word choice and the standard language of me. Also some of my viewers got interested in my writings for sometimes they got solace through the words.
I was mostly affected by one my eco poetry ” Goodbye” published in The Storizen magazine in this year. I got emotionally and physically connected to the nature to write that poem with my own hands.”
Claudia: Have there been any drawbacks in your art/writing journey? How has that affected you?
Debadrita Sarkar: “Of course! Sometimes, my word choice and spelling got mistaken and corrupt the writing at a great level. The most drawback in my writing is that, my grammar skills get weaker many of the times.”
